Social Network Marketing is the use of the social media sites available on the internet today. When used
properly, they can be an excellent tool for building your business. When used improperly you will damage your
reputation and destroy your "brand". With social networks today, the word can spread very quickly.
Yes, your Brand, the image that you present to the public. We have all encountered the over zealous network
marketer who is a constant sales pitch. After a brief encounter you are looking for a quick exit. Needless to say
next time you see this person coming you do your best to avoid an encounter.
The same applies to the social networks. Those making the constant sales pitch are known in the internet
community as "spammers". Like the above, they are not well received.
In social network marketing you are out to brand yourself as an expert in a given area. You will be doing
that by providing valuable content from time to time. You will not be actively selling or recruiting. Your goal is
to help others. Help them to get what they want! With the useful, helpful information you provide will
leave the impression of this person is alright. He/she really knows what they are talking about.
So what are these online communities you want to use for social network marketing? There are several hundred out
there, but fear not, there is only a handful you need to focus on in the beginning. They are:
LinkedIn - This is a professional network. Here you will want to encourage everyone you know to
join. This is the place to go when you are looking for help. You can find which friend of yours has
connection to someone who can provide the service that you need. On the reverse, those who need your service will
be able to find you.
Twitter - Here you post short comments. Your followers then can read and comment on what you
have posted, and you can read and comment on what they have posted.
facebook - Here you find an online community where you can share thoughts, photos, videos,
instant message, direct mail and update your status with your friends. For your social network marketing facebook
also has a component that allows you to have pages that promote your business and products.
YouTube - The place to go for uploading your videos and watching videos.
Network marketing today is becoming increasingly focused on internet marketing. Social network will remain at
the center of it. The focus will be on building relationships and the sharing of valuable content. The
internet will become increasingly interactive. It will become more personal. With the continued proliferation of
new network marketing companies offering a wider range of products and more competition for existing products,
it will become more important to be able to stand out from the crowd. Social Network Marketing will continue
to be the key to do just that.
